With increased national concern and growing attention, through the Anti-Bullying Action Plan, the Korean government has indicated a strong willingness to address harassment and bullying in the workplace. Consequently, it is likely that the government will seek to voluntarily amend the related laws and regulations, and vigorously strengthen its enforcement efforts.
In particular, we expect that disputes arising out of or in connection with these issues will increase, due to the increased enforcement of laws and regulations that prohibit workplace harassment and workplace bullying, such as the Amendment to the Equal Employment Opportunity and Work-Family Balance Assistance Act (effective May 29, 2018) and the Amendment to the Occupational Safety and Health Act (effective October 18, 2018).
It was during this period that the problematic 11 and a bit minutes had their revenge. The seasons began to shift, little by little, and this had important implications for Christian timekeeping. Sometimes it was March 25, the day commemorating the appearance of the angel Gabriel to Mary. Other times it was December 25, the day agreed as Jesus’s birthday (the perfect nine-month gestation period). Sometimes, it was confusingly the moveable date of Easter, making years of changing length.
The date of Easter Sunday (another point of contention) was timed to follow the northern spring equinox, a natural symbol of light conquering darkness. But as that equinox began to slip back in time, a distinction started to emerge between a “legal” Easter—that decreed by the calendar—and a “natural” equinox, i.e., the equinox that could be observed.
What do many diet soft drinks and sugar-free foods have in common? It’s called aspartame, and this artificial sweetener is found in thousands of diet foods and drinks. But did you know aspartame may be linked to anxiety?
A recent study at the Florida State University College of Medicine found a link between the artificial sweetener aspartame and anxiety-like behavior in mice.
The peer-reviewed study, published earlier this month in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, found that even aspartame that adheres to the FDA guidelines can cause anxiety.
The researchers found that when aspartame is eaten, it breaks down into aspartic acid, phenylalanine, and methanol. All three of these chemicals can have strong effects on the central nervous system.
Despite industry inequality and representation issues, young video game users are diverse. A 2015 Pew Research Center study found Black teens are slightly more likely than their peers to play video games, while roughly the same amount of white and Hispanic teens play.
Meanwhile, Black and Hispanic workers make up just 9% and 8% of STEM employees in the U.S. respectively, Pew said last year.
Johnston is reframing the conversation about video games by coaching communities of color on how esports can lead to careers for their children.
“I think our community does not know that this can lead to college,” she said.
This school year, DePaul University in Chicago offered a new academic esports scholarship designed to hone practical skills for the video game industry. Nine of the 10 freshmen recipients are students of color, according to Stephen Wilke, the school’s esports coordinator.

Launched as a prototype on November 30, 2022, Open AI's ChatGPT has caught the attention of engineers, social media, entrepreneurs, writers, and students alike. The chatbot has been built on top of OpenAI's GPT-3 family of large language models and is capable of communicating in a human-like manner. It is based on language mode, GPT-3.5, and ever since its launch has become a threat for some while the latest addiction for many.
ChatGTP works in a conversational interface with its user, responds to follow-up questions, admit and corrects mistakes, reject improper asks, and even challenges incorrect premises. A sibling model of InstructGPT, ChatGPT is devised to follow instructions in a prompt and/or detailed answer.
The pandemic-led boom that boosted tech companies and their valuations has now turned into a bust in the face of decades-high inflation and rapidly rising interest rates.
One of the big news stories in recent months has been Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter and mass layoffs at the social platform. But Twitter isn’t the only tech company making drastic changes to its staffing as fears of a looming recession continue into the new year.
Big Tech companies have been announcing massive job cuts and hiring freezes - most recently Google, which said on Friday it would be cutting its workforce by 6 per cent - or 12,000 jobs.
So, to protect your brain from dementia, should you load up your plate with as many flavonoid-rich foods as possible? Not really, according to Dr. Yeh.
She says that the standard advice to follow a plant-based diet as much as possible still applies, and eating a variety of colors is a good idea. "The more colors and types of food you can put on your plate for every meal, the better," she says.
How much is enough? Dr. Yeh says although there is still no definite recommended daily intake for flavonoids, aiming for the suggested five to nine servings of fruits and vegetables a day is a good goal.
"This breaks down to at least two cups of fruit and three cups of vegetables," she says. "That should be a good start to give you the flavonoids your body — and brain — may need."
Secondhand smoke can also be harmful in other ways. For instance, breathing secondhand smoke affects the heart and blood vessels, which increases the risk of having a heart attack. Exposure to secondhand smoke increases the risk of developing and dying from heart disease. It also increases the risk of having (and dying from) a stroke.

A former member of an infamous Russian mercenary group who fought in Ukraine says he staged a dramatic escape to Norway, where he is seeking asylum and offering to cooperate with international war crimes probes.
Andrei Medvedev commanded a squad of Wagner paramilitary forces in eastern Ukraine before fleeing after witnessing the execution of former prisoners who were recruited for the war, he said in a video posted Monday by a Russian rights group.
“I am afraid of a painful death,” Medvedev told Vladimir Osechkin, the founder of Gulagu.net, which said it helped the former mercenary leave the country after he approached the group as he feared for his life.
Medvedev said he had crossed into Norway and surrendered to local police before claiming asylum in the country, which shares an Arctic border with Russia.
The former mercenary recounted his defection from his former employer, which he joined last year on a four-month contract after serving time in prison.
Medvedev said he climbed through barbed-wire fences, evaded border patrol dogs, ran away from guards' bullets and ran through a forest and over an icy lake to make it into Norway. Once there, he said in the video, he knocked on the door of the first house he came across and asked the woman inside to call the police.
He said he was taken to a local police station before being transferred to a detention center for foreign citizens in the Norwegian capital, Oslo.
In its final stages, the neurological disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) can bring extreme isolation. People lose control of their muscles, and communication may become impossible. But with the help of an implanted device that reads his brain signals, a man in this “complete” locked-in state could select letters and form sentences, researchers report this week.
“People have really doubted whether this was even feasible,” says Mariska Vansteensel, a brain-computer interface researcher at the University Medical Center Utrecht who was not involved in the study, published in Nature Communications. If the new spelling system proves reliable for all people who are completely locked in—and if it can be made more efficient and affordable—it might allow thousands of people to reconnect to their families and care teams, says Reinhold Scherer, a neural engineer at the University of Essex.
ALS destroys the nerves that control movement, and most patients die within 5 years of diagnosis. When a person with ALS can no longer speak, they can use an eye-tracking camera to select letters on a screen. Later in the disease’s progression, they can answer yes-or-no questions with subtle eye movements. But if a person chooses to prolong their life with a ventilator, they may spend months or years able to hear but not communicate.
Microplastic pollution has been detected in human blood for the first time, with scientists finding the tiny particles in almost 80% of the people tested.
The discovery shows the particles can travel around the body and may lodge in organs. The impact on health is as yet unknown. But researchers are concerned as microplastics cause damage to human cells in the laboratory and air pollution particles are already known to enter the body and cause millions of early deaths a year.
Huge amounts of plastic waste are dumped in the environment and microplastics now contaminate the entire planet, from the summit of Mount Everest to the deepest oceans. People were already known to consume the tiny particles via food and water as well as breathing them in, and they have been found in the faeces of babies and adults.
DETROIT (AP) -- General Motors' Cruise autonomous vehicle unit says it will pull the human backup drivers from its vehicles in San Francisco by the end of the year.
Cruise CEO Dan Ammann said in a statement that the company got a permit Thursday from California's Department of Motor Vehicles to let the cars travel on their own. The move follows last week's announcement from Waymo that it would open its autonomous ride-hailing service to the public in the Phoenix area in vehicles without human drivers. Waymo, a unit of Google parent Alphabet Inc., is hoping to eventually expand the service into California, where it already has a permit to run without human backups. Cruise has reached the point where it's confident that it can safely operate without humans in the cars, spokesman Ray Wert said. There's no date for starting a ride service, which would require further government permission, he said. Cruise will go neighborhood-by-neighborhood in San Francisco and launch the driverless vehicles slowly before spreading to the entire city, he said. It will hold neighborhood meetings to answer people's questions, he said. "We understand that this is a trust race as much as it is a technology race," Wert said. "This is absolutely about making sure that we're doing this with San Francisco." The moves by Waymo and Cruise, which are considered among the leaders in autonomous vehicle technology, are important steps in the march toward proliferation of self-driving cars. Progress toward autonomous vehicles slowed markedly after an Uber autonomous test SUV ran down a pedestrian in Tempe, Arizona, in 2018.
There are a wide variety of types of economic inequality, most notably measured using the distribution of income (the amount of money people are paid) and the distribution of wealth (the amount of wealth people own). Besides economic inequality between countries or states, there are important types of economic inequality between different groups of people.
Important types of economic measurements focus on wealth, income, and consumption. There are many methods for measuring economic inequality, with the Gini coefficient being a widely used one. Another type of measure is the Inequality-adjusted Human Development Index, which is a statistic composite index that takes inequality into account. Important concepts of equality include equity, equality of outcome, and equality of opportunity.
Research suggests that greater inequality hinders economic growth, with land and human capital inequality reducing growth more than inequality of income. Whereas globalization has reduced global inequality (between nations), it has increased inequality within nations. 引用元：ウィキペディア
